The intent of the Basic Navigation I Certification is to ensure that members of Vanguard have basic knowledge of how to Navigate and Operate their ships effectively and safely ensuring safety and efficiency for all Vanguard members. A Proctor is required for this Certification and both occasional events as well as informal ad hoc opportunities can fulfill the requirement. This Certification can be done with a small group and is in fact preferred, to both save time for the instructor and provide camaraderie during the class.
The class will take the student through a series of quantum and spline jumps, using both map and OM-POI marker navigation techniques. The candidates will be instructed on the details of a jump process before demonstrating it. The class must stay together, performing one maneuver at a time, waiting for instruction before moving to the next.
